New Ingebretsen’s Blomster Embroidery Kit!

To celebrate the 50th Birthday of the Ingebretsen’s Gift Shop, we have another fun collaboration to announce. Using vintage Norwegian stitching patterns from the Ingebretsen’s archives and the creative genius of Laurie Dolhan, we partnered with Hook, Line, and Tinker to bring you this custom embroidery kit! You can read more about Hook, Line and Tinker and their embroidery kits here.

This pattern is called Ingebretsen’s Blomster (Ingebretsen’s flowers). You can purchase your own kit here! We wanted to use a Rosemaling inspired motif in bright colors to make something new and modern with a Scandinavian flair.

The original inspiration for the design, from Norway.

What comes in the kit

Each kit includes:

  • a printed pattern on cotton
  • 6″ embroidery hoop (to re-use or finish for display)
  • embroidery floss in the design colors
  • size 3 embroidery needle
  • instruction sheets

These kits are designed for “advanced beginners,” so if you’ve never embroidered before these are a great entry point (with just a bit of a learning curve). You can find the Hook, Line, and Tinker Stitch Guide here, which has a lot of helpful information on how to do each stitch.

Step by Step

The pattern comes pre-printed onto the fabric, so in a way it is like a color by number. Follow the color guide and the stitch pattern for each specific area.

Soon you will have a gorgeous handmade embroidery piece. The finished fabric can be displayed in the hoop, using one of our popular hoop props – buy it here! – or the fabric can be used and sewn onto something else, or framed behind glass for display.

Thank you for helping us celebrate 50 years of the Ingebretsen’s Nordic Gift Shop! We appreciate your support and wouldn’t be here without you . Plan to come and shop our Needlework store this holiday for craft supplies, yarn, Norwegian sweaters, and kids toys and books – and if you can’t find it just ask!
