Australia Needs Your Help

We’ve all been watching the devastation taking place in Australia with the wildfires. Efforts are being taken to save not just humans and property but the wildlife. It is estimated that close to a billion animals have already been lost to this fire.

One thing that is helping is people are knitting, crocheting, and sewing items that rescuers are using to help the animals. They are items like Joey pouches and beds and Koala mittens.

Ingebretsen’s wants to support this work so if you are a person who likes to knit, crochet, or sew you can find patterns for various items below. In addition, you can bring your items to our store and we will collect them and mail them to a rescue center in Australia that is collecting these items and then sending them where they are needed.

These items are needed now so we ask that you bring in your items no later than Tuesday, January 28th. Depending on the need and the response we may continue collecting into February but we want to get as many items to Australia as quickly as we can.

If you have questions you can email us at info@ingebretsens.com or send a message via Facebook.

Thank you for helping with this need.

  1. I live in NH and am preparing some of these knits. I can’t deliver them to your MN store in person, and I realize you need them by the 28th of January. Can you provide me with the correct address for my knitted pieces? And is Jan. 28 a firm date? Many thanks.

  2. I am a very grateful Australian. I know this reply is very late but I have only just come across your blog. Thank you from the bottom of all our hearts for your thoughtfulness and willingness to help our wildlife. 15 months have now passed and the fires are over, but sadly many of the burnt areas are now struggling with floods which also effects the animals. Knowing we have our world wide neighbours support in these times means more to our hearts than you will ever know. Thank you to everyone who knitted. Karen Cramer
